The inn was originally a small holding and has been carefully refurbished while still keeping much of the charming olde world feel. It is situated in Outgate near Hawkshead and is a wonderful base from which to explore Cumbria and the Lake District National Park.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant each morning and is made using locally sourced ingredients wherever possible. We serve meals throughout the bar area and dining room. 

If you are taking advantage of the mountain bike tracks around the area, particularly in the Grizedale Forest, we have a secure locked garage to safely store your bikes at night. The surrounding area is ideal for walking and fishing and there are several wonderful walks that start from the inn.

We can provide a delicious and wholesome packed lunch and a full flask for the keen walker.
